Who we are

About Sioux Honey

A beekeeper-owned co-op for over 100 years. We're the people behind Sue Bee® and Aunt Sue’s®, and every jar we make starts with the same simple goal: pure, honest honey from American beekeepers who do this because they love it.

How we give back to the communities that have supported us for over 100 years.

What we stand for, and the people who lead our co-op.

Brand Story

In 1921, five beekeepers from Sioux City, Iowa came together, each contributing $200, to share equipment, marketing, and processing so they could support one another and their bees. That small circle of collaboration has grown into a strong network of 190+ member families across the United States, still guided by the same idea: beekeepers doing more together than they could alone.

A lot has changed in the century since. What hasn’t changed is that Sioux Honey is still a co-op, not a corporation. Every bottle of Sue Bee® and Aunt Sue’s® honey carries forward that original goal: keeping the focus on what’s best for our beekeepers, our customers, and our honey.

Our Commitment

Beekeeper-Owned

It’s not just where your honey comes from that matters; it’s who. Sioux Honey is proudly beekeeper-owned, with 190+ independent family beekeepers across the country known to us by name, not just by number.

Many of our member families are on their third or fourth generation of Sioux Honey membership, passing down not just the trade but a shared commitment to one another.

100% U.S.-sourced honey, U.S. Farmed™ Certified

U.S. Farmed™ Certified

Sue Bee® and Aunt Sue’s® are proudly U.S. Farmed™ Certified, the first honey brands to earn this distinction, and Sioux Honey is only the second manufacturer overall to be certified. Created in partnership with American Farmland Trust, the U.S. Farmed™ seal is the only third-party-verified certification that verifies products are made with ingredients grown in the United States.
